Dear students,

it is a pleasure to invite you to attend a new extra-semestral course „Empirical Methods in Economics“, 5IE951. It aims at advancing the theoretical and practical skills of the students in conducting empirical research with a special focus on panel data analysis. After reviewing basic concepts of panel data, recent advances in the estimation of linear panel data will be discussed including panel data sample selection and time-varying fixed effects. Non-linear panel data estimation techniques will be then introduced focusing on the challenges of fixed-effect estimation techniques. Lastly, miscellaneous topics will include inference in the case of clustering, partial identification in case of imperfect instruments, and non-stationary panel data estimators. Detailed sylabus in the InSIS.

All of you who do or plan to do an empirical research are strongly encouraged to attend the course.
The course will run from April 18th to 22nd. It carries 5 credit points.
